I semi-second it. I have only driven through Tampa, but Sarasota is
only about 20 minutes south and my dad had a condo there. My
impression of Sarasota is reasonably positive, though if it were me I
would avoid condo canyon and look along the coast outside of town.
Already commented on hurricanes.
