Ah, understanding has been reached and communication has been achieved.

My problem was that I meant "Liberal/Conservative" as a short hand for "Liberal Versus Conservative" so I was not taking your reply in that context.  Thus I was trying to apply your response of "hypocrite" to the rest of the message and I just could not make any heads or tails of how one got from point A to point B.

And yes, the meaning of hypocrite did seem to be questioned.
