but newbies. And for whatever reason, once you've established that contact,
they seem to want to talk to you in private (perhaps embarassed to ask what
they perceive to be potentially 'dumb' questions in public...not realizing
that we've all asked those same questions).
I used to try and correspond one on one with them...but it did get to be too
much. Working, spending time answering questions on easycfm's public
forums, corresponding back and forth privately with those who e-mailed me
directly...and then there's the whole wife and kids thing :)
Now when someone emails me directly I'll try and answer them, but I'll also
tell them that in the future they should continue to post to the public
forums. There's more people there to see the question, so a greater chance
that somebody will have the answer. Plus, by e-mailing me directly, they
are constrained by my time constraints, whereas posting to the forums will
likely get them an answer more quickly.
Also, I don't think you should -ever- feel bad about suggesting that
somebody get a book. Give a man a fish and all that...
