Age of consent varries _without_ parental consent in mississippi a boy
has to wait 2 years longer than a girl. ... not to mention all the
states that have age of consent with parental consent being divided by
gender... Rhode Island, Ohio and Delaware in particular where the age
of consent for a boy _with_ parental consent is the same as the age of
consent without parental consent -- so in essence, the "parental
consent" law discriminates against "men". My best guess would be that
these states assume a girl getting married early with parental consent
will be getting married to an older man who has money to support
her... which imo is a fairly archaic view.
