I don't think much of that argument personally.

Sparsely populated states will get less of a say in the presidential
election specifically because they are sparsely populated.  Their voices in
the Senate, congress and locally will not be affected in the least.

I see very little problem with having the Presidential election, and nothing
else, be purely about a majority of Americans.  Of course I was raised in
Ney York and now live in Massachusetts so take that as you will.  ;^)
