Were the symptoms ever..."severe"? Did she ever describe how she was feeling, or why? Do you think it may be chemically based? How long did it last? Does she ever reflect on it now?

Yes, this is legit. Both my ex-wife and my current wife went through it
after my children were born. My current wife suffered quite a bit more. It
is one of the more helpless feelings I have had, because I really didn't
know what to do other than try and be supportive. It's not a lot of fun.
