I go. I only go occasionally now, when something flares up. I used to
think they were quacks. But, I feel down a flight of stairs in 90, and
tore the ligaments around my L5 vertebrae. 4 years later, after doing
lots of physical therapy, I would still have moments of excruciating
pain. I would have to lie down on something solid and wait. The pain
would build up, and I'd do relaxation breathing and eventually
something would go "pop" and I'd be better. Until a few
days/hours/minutes later when it would happen again.

4 chiropractic sessions later, I've gone years without having that
happen. (I think I saw the chiropractor more like 8 times that first
go around.)

I'd be wary of any chiropractor that insists you'll have to do weekly
treatments from here to eternity. I had one friend go through that
experience. Costly and I doubt the veracity of their claims.

Usually, now, if something happens - I pull something, or fall off my
horse, or lift something wrong - I can go once or twice and be good
for another 6 months or so.

But, I've also had a bad experience, where a different chiropractor
(my normal guy's partner) didn't listen when I told him he was hurting
me. He tore the tissue between two ribs and I ended up on major muscle
relaxants/pain killers/anti-inflamatories for a couple of weeks. So,
you definitely have to find one you trust and that listens to you.
