the bush admin seen as "weak" in defending us from "terrorists". yea I'm
that cynical about the motives of this admin, especially after the
bald-faced lies supporting the invasion of iraq. i say this in full
admission that I was one of the most vocal supporters on this list at the
time of the invasion.
you can only be so "careful" before you become a police state.

Why not be careful. No matter where the intel comes from I doubt that it is
unfounded. I doubt they would go to this extreme just for shaky
information, imagine the cost of such an operation. Everyone knows security
is not cheap.

Subject: Fearmongers at it again
"Security is being stepped up in Washington, New York City and northern New
Jersey after "alarming" intelligence indicating al Qaeda may hit financial
institutions with car bombs, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said.
Ridge is raising the terror threat level from yellow to orange for all three
areas."
I love it. Al Q has got to be laughing their asses off at the idiocy
involved with "homeland security" here in the US. Sending out alerts as to
which buildings are targets. Raising color levels.
Anyone ever hear of disinformation? If there was "chatter", the eloquent
term du jour; it certainly was fake.
Cops walking around outside the buildings in full tactical uniforms, with
body armor and assault weapons at the ready. We are so close to this turning
into a right wing-religious-police state.....cant wait for that.
The Bush worshippers have got to be exctatic, rolling all over themselves in
fear-induced glee, huge flesh piles of orgiastic-cronyism. Tom "reactionary"
Ridge has got to be so self ego inflated as to inhibit his stalking the
halls of capitol hill.
