in the Manning case, however, it was unsuccessful, if memory serves. I think the refs blew the play dead after Manning had faked the spike, and was running into the endzone.

    I think I recall Peyton Manning pulling a similar stunt a couple of
    years ago (I bring it up because I don't recall the Marino play..but
    thought it was brilliant when I saw it done by Manning).
