The instruments definitely reinvest your gains: that, my friends, is the
magic of "compound interest".  And why investing 10% of my salary 'till I
retire will give me (estimated!) 220% of my final salary per year after
retirement.   ;^)

As for employer match - you hit the nail on the head there.  My company will
reclaim its match if you leave the company before five years of service.

  The amount you make really depends on the type of investments you do (or
can do) with your 401K.  I thought the average returns were ~10% yearly for
stock market investment over the long term.  I think 401K automatically
re-invests your earnings, so...

  $121 next year
  $133 next year
