But, seriously.. to answer the original question...
For starters, order your own credit report. There are Internet services
around to do this. You'll want to use a service that will get your credit
report from all the 3 major credit places. I've done it, but cannot
remember what service I used. Along with the order you'll get instructions
on what you can do to fix any errors.
Once you know your credit you can decide what you can do to improve
it. if you have the ability to control your spending, I see nothing wrong
w/ getting a credit card.
As far as starting your own business...
I love owning my own business(es). Is there something you can start now
w/o a lot of capital? Why not do it?
My recording studio business, for example, was just an extension on my
music hobby, I had most of the equipment anyway. It was a low cost of
entry for me.
