I was disappointed when I saw that Gore had let himself be turned into a mere pawn by the democratic party. They basically told him "Ok, you are going to be our vitriole guy from now on. We want you to start yelling in all your speeches".  As such, i'd replace him with Powell.

But then, i'd replace every politician with Powell :)

  That's a slogan I want to here in a Presidential campaign: "Taking the
  middle back from the sides".  Maybe we'll get a philosophical "McCain/ Gore"
  ticket someday.  ;^)
