There use to be a time - when everyone did what it took - to get the job done. I personally believe people (in this Country) have lost focus with the rest of the world... most of us believe America - is the world. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Instead, we are most powerful nation in a world of unrest. Our society has become to engrossed in MTV, Football, Baseball, etc - to know that the rest of the world regards terrorism - though not acceptable - as common place. I've been outside this Country. We live in the greatest nation of all time - and we have to do what it takes to get the job done. Before September 11th - we cared more about the World Series... or World Champions. Keeping in mind that world (again)... is within the borders of our own country. I seriously doubt the government will enter a persons' home - without a reasonable amount of information leading to a potential arrest. If a case appears that the government did in fact - stretch the word "reasonable"... we will have to deal with that situation at that time - and immediately. Until then, if we have something that we are so concerned about - that we have to hide it... maybe they should look. I sincerely missed the days when hero's were real - and not someone who could get paid a million dollars to hit a ball. They are not hero's - they are someone who we pay a million dollars to hit a frigg'n ball. The hero's in this event are the ones who risked their lives to save others. The hero's of tomorrow - will be the ones who guide this great nation back to peace. The hero's of the future - will be the ones who keep us in peace... by always keeping an eye on the ones who want to take our peace away. Although by tragic circumstances - I'm glad the real hero's are back. Has anyone really examined this crap and thought about what it really means? Various groups have tried to get similar legislation through congress repeatedly prior to these attacks, and they are now using these attacks as an excuse to again push their agendas through congress. Do you know that under the ATA, law enforcement agencies can do a full search of your premises, without providing a search warrant, if they Suspect you might be involved in terrorist activities? SUSPECT..they don't have to have proof. The full act can be found here : http://www.eff.org/Privacy/Surveillance/20010919_ata_bill.html "The proposed ATA (Section 352) contain a far-reaching provision that would eliminate the current requirement that law enforcement must provide a person subject to a search warrant or order with contemporaneous notice of the search. This significant change in current law would apply to all government searches for material that "constitutes evidence of a criminal offense in violation of the laws of the United States" and is not limited to investigations of terrorist activity. Currently, delayed notification of a search is authorized only under a very small number of circumstances (such as surreptitious electronic surveillance). The expansion of this extraordinary authority to all searches would constitute a radical departure from Fourth Amendment standards and could result in routine surreptitious entries (break-ins) by law enforcement agents." I mean the capacity for this to be abused is enormous! What the hell are these lawmakers thinking? Specifically, all these ammendments and clauses seek to do one thing- remove the judiciary system from the process of law enforcement, making the agencies a law unto themselves without the guidance of elected officials, judges etc. It seems the Law Enforcement Agencies such as the FBI and others want to be able to do what they want, when they want, to whom they wish without having to worry about the law or the US Constitution. To me, this fallout from the WTC Tragedy is just as scary as the expected followup terrorist attacks :( -Gel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your ad could be here.
