i like this site for camcorder reviews:
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/

they had me convinced that i wanted a sony HC30 (I knew I wanted a
Sony because I was thrilled with my previous Sony that had been
stolen).

long story short i ended up with a TRV-22, which was last year's model
of the HC30 (only difference was apparently is that the HC30 is a hair
smaller and the corners a little more rounded...so basically
aesthetics).  got it on closeout so they could make room for the
HC30s.

Couldn't be happier with it.  Tiny (which isn't always a good thing,
as a smaller camcorder tends to be harder to hold steady...but Sony
had great steadyshot technology IMO) and a lot of nice features (super
nightshot, the aforementioned steadyshot, etc).

Also, there are about 2.6 trillion reveiw sites out there, does the list have any favorite sites for reviews / comparison shopping, etc?
