An aicraft belonging to Trinidad and Tobagos British West Indies airways
appeared on an islamic militant website a few days ago apparently.
The website is known to be a mouthpiece of a few terrorist groups.
The talk is that the FBI recently set up offices in Trinidad (Why the
FBI?? Shouldn't that be the CIA since Trinidad isn't exactly a State of
the US...Isn't the FBI restricted to United States territory?)
and after this reporters uncovered the BWIA aircraft picture on the
islamic website.
Trinidad is apparently of great strategic importance to the United
States due to it's location just off South America and as a Gateway to
the US, Cuba , and the greater Caribbean from Latin America, and it's
great stores of Oil,Liquid Natural Gas, and the fact that it is the
worlds largest producer of Methanol. So our minor success seems to have
placed us in someone's cross hairs for making a 'statement'.
I am unaware that Trinidad has courted the US, or openly allied itself
to the US. We opposed the manner in which the War in IRaq was launched,
we opposed the US overtures to allow Haiti back into the CARICOM after
Aristide was kidnapped and a rebel military leader had taken over the
country. We have ties with Russia, China, Britain and other European
countries....so I really can't understand it. It isn't like we've cozied
up to the States as part of some 'old boy's' club or anything like that.

So why target us???
We're so insignificant.
Our airforce consists of 4 civilian helicopters and a bloody Cessna.
Our standing 'army' still uses Gallil rifles from around WWII or
something like that.

And in other news, the militant leader of a failed Coup attempt in 1990
is reportedly forging strong ties with Chavez in Venezuela, himself a
coup leader.
*sigh*

Just grand.
