Truth be told, I'm kind of embarrassed when others hear that music coming
from my computer. But music is part of society. What was the social shift
that made it ok to use this language in everyday speaking, music, etc?

I guess you don't listen to hip-hop :)
Tell 50 Cent that his lyrics will be just as effective
without using that kind of language. I must admit I
listen to him a lot and pray I don't talk like that in
front of my kids.
