>But is it really Arnold thinking and doing all this good stuff for CA or
>is it the puppet handlers pulling the strings?

If you look at Arnold's career, you'll find he made a fortune in commercial real estate in west L.A. before he ever made it huge in the movies. He's a very savvy guy, and don't count out the immigrant factor. He came to America to live the dream, and he has lived the dream.

Now, that is not the same thing as saying he is an intellectual giant who has all the answers, a modern day Philosopher King. That is not the case, nor would he ever say that is the case. But there is absolutely no question about who is in charge in Sacramento these days.

Here's a little story that might shed some light on the subject. When Arnold was first sworn in, he went to the head of the Motor Vehicles Administration and said he wanted the tripling of the California car tax (enacted by the clown Gray Davis) repealed within 30 days. He campaigned on the issue and demanded that it be rescinded. The tax hike was VERY unpopular here, and he wanted to show people he was listening. The head of the MVA said no way could he manage to get it done in 30 days, it would take 90 days or more. Arnold immediately fired the guy, brought the next person in and told them to get it done.

The gist of the story is that the Governor is in charge and he made that clear right up front.
