occupy. Love that word. The only people to hold Jerusalem as their capital
for over 3000 years come back to it and it's occupation. I guess anywhere
where someone lives is the place they occupy, so you are correct. If you
mean the ingathering of exiles to Israel, this is a Jewish concept and not
really on the radar of most Christians as a sign of the coming of the
messiah. If it was, why would many Christians be trying to get the Jews out
of Israel?
As for why Palestinians (and Arabs in general) are skeptical of Christians
has nothing to do with Israel. The Crusades come to mind as does the current
religio-centrism that is running through Islam. We're all infidels according
to the current teachings (wahabism).

I think one of those events is the occupation of Jerusalem by Israel -
which is one of the reasons why the Religious Right is a strong Israel
supporter, and one of the reasons why Palestinians are skeptical of
Christians.

Some Christians believe that certain world events need to take place
before the Rapture. I think this means that they actively try to make
those events happen.
