I also did these drills in Boy Scouts. I remember part of earning a
merit badge during summer camp was to deal with a simulated bus crash.
They took us out to the middle of the woods where this old bus was
laying on it's side and we did the excersise there.
Funny things was that the bus was litterally in the middle of the
woods. Trees were grown up all around it and if it was driven there
it had to have been there at least 20 years. We use to make up
stories of how it came to be there - dropped from a helicopter, etc...
I remember learnning to make streachers from tree limbs and shirts,
etc... They used ketchup for blood and simulated all kinda stuff.
We also use to do search and rescue drills where a team had to find 3
or 4 people with different injuries, treat them, and transport them
back to base camp using whatefver we had available. It was actually
kinda fun and you never know when those lessons might come in
handy....
