want their gay child mentioned on national TV. However, I believe that the
real issue is her sexual orientation, professional aspirations, hair color,
etc, have no place in the discussion for whom will be our next president. She
is not running for office.

I still think all of the outrage is based on the assumption that being
gay is deviant. Let's say she was a successful doctor - then
mentioning her public position on, say, healthcare, wouldn't be
considered a "cheap shot".
