I believe that homosexuality is a matter of nature, genetics.  I don't believe that you can make a person homosexual from environmental influences.  And, don't forget, homosexuality is not limited to humans - it's been observed in other animals as well.

As for evolutionary consequences - I don't believe that there are any.   There are diseases and mutations that are detremental to our species and natural selection seems to difavor those.  In the case of homosexuality, however, I believe that natural selection does not fully apply.  It's true that the majority of homosexuals will not reproduce but I think that the contributions to socienty by people that are homosexual cannot be overlooked.

My opinion is that many people are fearful of homosexuals for one reason or another and I don't know why.  I've been in contact with openly homosexual people and it's not a big deal at all.  I even did a stint at the Gay Games headquarter in Manhattan once and it was like working anywhere else.

Subject: Homosexuality: nature vs. nurture & evolution

Considering I am a strong believer in evolution I was wondering if you have any decent articles looking at the nature vs. nurture questions around homosexuality from the point of evolution. I.e. what are the evolutionary advantages for mankind if homosexuality were a matter of nature and what are the evolutionary advantages if it were a metter of nurture.
