Pete Peterson, a Street veteran and Secretary of Commerce in the Nixon
administration, told WSL sister publication Corporate Financing Week he
believes experience as an investment banker can be invaluable in
policymaking but warns its not easy serving the commander and chief.

Peterson, chairman and co-founder of The Blackstone Group and former Lehman
Brothers chairman recalls how he and George Shultz used to feel guilty if
they played nine holes of golf on a Saturday. "I gave up the ceo-ship of a
major corporation [Bell and Howell] to earn just $42,000 a year. People ask
me if it was costly and I tell them, 'Yeah, but it was priceless.'"

The article was about possible bankers who will move to D.C., as advisors,
if Kerry wins.________________________________
