No, you'll need to get a different motherboard if you go with an AMD. For
gaming, I'd go with a 939 socket processor and MB.  If newegg.com was coming
up (they've had some problems today), they have a Motherboard selector,
where you can tell it what features you want, what processor socket, etc.

Here's a good article for AMD vs. Intel for gaming:

I think you can get the AMD 3500+ Socket 939 for around $300-350 and it
smokes even the 3.4 Extreme Edition P4, which costs around $1000.

When I do place my order, I'm going to get either a 3.2 or 3.4 GHz 1MB cache
Pentium 4 with HT (Hyper-Threading).  I'll lose a couple percentage points
in gaming, but the HT will help with encoding videos and other multimedia
junk.  If you do end up buying a P4, I wouldn't go with the 925x chipsets
either...you get something like 1-3% performance increase over the 915
chipsets for about $100 more.

Yep...I like the anandtech site ;-)

And LCDs are much better now than a few years ago. Just make sure you get
one with a low response time (anything below 16ms or so is pretty darn
good.)
