I know you really like Mr. Bush's foreign policy, but I think the
question is, is the World heading in a better direction?
For me I'd say that Iraq, Iran, North Korea, and Russia are all
heading in worse a direction. Add to that the fact that our military
is over extended and terrorism deaths per year have never been higher.
Mr. Bush's supporters would say these are the death throes of the
enemies of liberty, but I would say they are the harbinger of chaos.
I don't necessarily disagree with Mr. Bush's approach: Mr. Hussein is
evil and an opponent of liberty. Taking him out will supply liberty
to a country deprived of it and that will better the world and
therefore the US.
The problem with this strategy is that I think it will take more time,
people, and money than the US or it's allies can afford. That means
we should come up an "80/20" solution instead (as Mr. Bush's Dad did).
This all reminds me of Bill Nye, Science Guy. In the 90s, Boeing
hired him for $300,000 to design a "perfect" wing. After months of
work Mr. Nye turned in his design which the engineering department
promptly declared un-manufacturable.
Sometimes something can be right, but unworkable, and I think Mr. Bush
has such a strategy.
