them Internets are out to git me!" ;^)
I just don't think that Bush came off very well in this one . he seemed
desperate sometimes and incredulous the rest of the time (which made him, to
me, seem arrogant). There was a lot of "how could you not agree with me"
type sentiment from him - not seeming so much like a desire to convince as a
drive to shame people into accepting his points of view.
Also I was very disappointed that when asked, point blank, no bones about
it, Bush couldn't clearly state three mistakes he'd made. The man simply
seems incapable of admitting error - unless of course he's got somebody to
blame. When he intimated in the debate that "the generals" were at fault
for the equipment and man-power issues in Iraq I just winced. That may very
well be the case, but it struck me as a clear inability to accept
responsibility.
I also wish that Kerry would have struck back harder on the abortion
question when he claimed that issues were more complex than Bush was
intimating. I think Kerry explained his position well in that he didn't
vote "for" partial birth abortions but rather against an unbalanced bill.
Bush responded with something like "you're either for or against it and he
voted against it" - that astounding lack of gradation in thinking should
have prompted Kerry to hit back (I thought). It showed a clear lack of
compassion for another's point of view and a complete inability to consider
complex issues as anything other than binary.
That moment, right there, more than any other clinched my vote for Kerry.
Bush also annoyingly continued to display his campaign's label-based
campaign with several tangential lines about Kerry's "Liberalness" (also
further demonizing the word "Liberal" which always annoys me). Kerry did a
good job, intellectually, in decrying the use of generalist labels, but I
think that Bush's general adherence to painting all issues (and people and
situations) as black or white may help him in this unfortunately
attention-deficit-riddled nation. It completely disgusts me however.
I was also a little annoyed (since it's an issue close to my family) that no
mention at all about Gay rights was made.
But all told I think that the debate did an excellent job of highlighting
the differences we have in the candidates.

I liked when Bush said, and I paraphrase because I can't remember word
for word, "you read about it on the internets" ...
Internets ... Is there another one I don't know about?
Is it where all the cool people hang out?
Do they have a CF-Community?
I'm bummed. :( I didn't know there was more than one.
Perhaps some good domain names are still available?
