>for word, "you read about it on the internets" ...
"I hear there's rumors on the internets", I just heard it. Classic Bushism!
Seriously, this is one of those things about Bush that voters actually like. He's a real person that they can relate to. Sometimes he stumbles over his words, and that's ok. It reminds me of a former colleague of mine, a very funny New Yorker, when she heard the charge that then-President Clinton was being investigated for cheating on his taxes. She said, "Hey, he cheats on his taxes! That's just like us! ( meaning her family)."
My point is that people liked that about Clinton, just like they like Reagan's occasional goofiness. People like leaders who aren't above them.
All I know is that this election is going to be a draw, once again. The funny thing is that for the last election I was in DC with my wife for the DevCon. There was an event at Union Station that night. On the way, we went by our old neighboorhood on Capitol Hill, where we ran into our old neighbors. We ended up sitting in their house watching the election whckiness unfold all night. We kept thinking, we'll just stay until they figure out who won. Oh well.
This time around a bunch of us will be in New Orleans for the vote. All I'm asking is that the election be over by the time I come back to San Diego, because last time around I was working independently and I spent two months not working and just glued to the TV watching pregnant chads on MSNBC 12 hours a day. I can't afford that again.
