I read somewhere that part of the reason the airlines got a relief package so soon, was because of the airline lobbyists. Unfortunately, because of the lobbyists swift work, there was no clause in the agreement that would protect workers from being laid off (even though the airline got their money). So in short, the airlines have got their rescue money, but are not obliged to maintain their workers.
Howard, on your point of the people getting the govenment they want, after the last election, I think that idea has been a little erroded... I think corporations radically influence govenment decisions in a way the people never could and even before the govenment is elected make sure they chose a candidate that most suits their philosophy. In american, you cannot be elected without alot of money. This money is provided by corporations on the most part (and then by high net worth individuals with corporate interests).
