That's interesting.

I think the democratically elected leaders of any country are actually only
interested in one thing: getting re-elected. How do you do that? You cater
to the majority of your citizens...not always a bad thing, as you are
primarily in place to execute on behalf of the majority of your country.

As such, France, Germany, and many others country's position against the
Iraq war is, i think, largely predicated on the large percentage of
disapproval among their people.

Let's say, then, that Kerry wins the election, and suddenly these countries
see a chance to share in the potential profits from Iraq based upon Kerry's
"bring in our allies promise", a euphemism for buying back friends (after
all, thats what politics is). Will the governments of these country's
suddenly try to sway public opinion in favor of the Iraq occupation? Saying
things like "its okay if we help now, Kerry is in power!". And if they do,
will it work? If it works, was it worth it?

If Kerry wins (as i think he will), things will get VERY interesting.
