I have a feeling that Mr. Powell is disappointed in himself and that
he realizes that those events definitely compromised his political
career, if not ended it.

This is because he'll have to explain this if he runs for any office
and his opponent could play the tapes of him saying "Iraq is no threat
and the sanctions are working" and then one year later insisting we
have to invade.
