I also believe that pharmacists' having a "choice" in whether or not to fill a
prescription is ridiculous.

But in reality, they have this "choice" because they are a business. Having a
wife and a son with long term medical conditions, I have run many times into
this conundrum. Individual pharmacies do not carry all possible medications,
they choose which ones they want to for business reasons. The real world
result is that I had to become more aware of what the doctor was prescribing
and why and then work with a pharmacy to get what was perscribed, an equvilent
but different brand medication, or go to a pharamcy that caried what was
needed. And I've had to do all three.

So, I have no problem with individual pharmicist making these choices, just as
long as they don't prevent the customer from choosing a different pharmicst.

Since the single phramicist phramacy is a very rare creature anymore, large
chains are definatly the norm, I suspect one could get around this by demanding
a different pharmicist to deal with in most of these cases. I suspect the
large chains aren't going to make global policiy's like this.

But then I'm an true optimist always looking and expecting the best outcome.
