Of course it matters but how could you say the average Fallujan has a
better life today (literally today) than under Hussein?

You can't, their city is completely demolished and occupied by tanks. 
That's not a better today.  Maybe it will create a better tomorrow,
but who knows?  That may never happen and it may all be for nothing.

It's common sense to think there are many Iraqis, maybe a majority in
Fallujah, that don't support the Americans or their puppet Iraqi
leader and preferred Hussein.  That my not make sense to you, but I
could definitely understand if someone felt this way.
