Gel, Remember that the Geneva Convention protections ONLY apply to uniformed combatants. Historically the US has applied these rules to all combatants. My training in the Army was specific on this; I had to wear my uniform the entire time I was in a combat zone to be afforded the Geneva Convention protections. If I was out of uniform and captured or wounded, I could IMMEDIATELY be shot as a spy or illegal combatant.
I didn't see a recognized uniform on the wounded combatant. He was in civilian clothing as far as I could tell. BRADDADAP! Dead Now" I totally understand all that. But the defence for any wartime atrocity is : "Its' fu**king war, kill or be killed". That's why you have the Geneva convention. That's why you have rules of International Law. It's intriguing that so many seem to see absolutely nothing wrong with what was shown. ;) -Gel -----Original Message----- From: Russel Madere [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] WELL SAID! Plus this Marine had been shot minutes earlier and seen a friend killed by a booby trapped body the day before. As a former soldier, I would have done the same in the same situation. That was my training. Kill or be killed. The easist way to avoid being killed by an American soldier is not to shoot at them. This soldier has enemy all around that want to kill him and booby traps all over. If he waits to assess every situation he's dead. In peace you get the benefit of doubt, in war you don't. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Special thanks to the CF Community Suite Gold Sponsor - CFHosting.net http://www.cfhosting.net Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:136478 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
