Well, with RAID 10, you can crash with just two dead disks, but the chances
of that are fairly slim, and in reality the chances of two disks going bad
in a raid 5 are pretty slim also.

I'm really more interested in this RAID 6 idea where there are multiple
parity stripes, it does a real hit to drive space as I understand, but it
may be worth it.

And how many dead disks does it take to crash a RAID 10 array? And presuming
the risk of a crash is proportional to the number of disks in an array, what
does that mean to te overall risk?
