If I remember correctly, there is a Supreme Court case protecting porn under the First Amendment. It may be unpopular speech, but it is protected.

This is because you now have to assign an arbiter of morals; someone who has the final word. That person is usually corrupt or becomes corrupt (Jerry Falwell, Jim Baker, et. al.). That's the problem I have with gay marriage: opponents don't see it as a human rights issue, they see it as gays trying to force their lifestyle on them. As such they feel it's something that can be voted on. I don't - it's basic human rights. There is only one principle that should be held high, the Golden Rule.
