Umm..I have to agree with Matthew there. You just cannot move installed
applications to other locations on your hard disk, and
expect everything to work. Microsoft or anything else.

Heck , if I even do that with GAMES, some of them won't work. The issue isn't a
microsoft one. If you feel that way about
Microsoft's product though, then by all means look into an alternative.

Check out OpenOffice.

Matthew, explain to me please why a spreadsheet program requires FrontPage?????
Front Page sucks anyway. I don't even *want* it on
my computer. It's like AOL an ugly thing that came with the computer.

I'm sorry, but I don't feel protected by the requirement that I have the
install disk. I probably do, and it's probably with my 2000
install disk in a box in the front room, and i haven't thought about it in six
months.

It feels to me that *Microsoft* is the one being protected here and I am all
the more incensed that matter of fact tis is bundled
software that was legally obtained. If it weren't I'd say fair enough, I took
my chances and they took their measures, and fair
enough.

As it is, a product that was part of a bundle that I purchased and which
belongs to *me* is getting pissy with me. Fuck it, I say.
I'm downloading a freeware wordprocessor as we speak and it's less than a meg.
Minus the bloatware I'll have *plenty* of room on C.

And I really don't like the "microsoft knows best" rant. I spent several years
of my life dealing with stupid microsoft defaults,
like the insistance that phone numbers have an area code in dial-up connector,
resulting in thousands of customers getting "the
number you have dialed does not require an area code" which of course the modem
reports are no dial time. Arg. Microsof it
protecting me, sure.

Dana
