Don't feel too bad, Won. I had the same initial reaction to the original Halo. I couldn't shoot anything despite being very good at PC-based shooters. With all the Halo2 hype, I've tried playing Halo again and have to say that IMO it still sucks to control. I've gotten better but it's still not good.
I don't think it's so much eye-hand coordination, since I can play pc games fine, as it is the use of the console type controllers. In part, they are technically flawed for this kind of game, but they also require a very unique set of fine motor skills that is underdeveloped in most people. I've spent the last two decades becoming very adept at mouse-cursor coordination, whether for games for for fine-detail photo retouching. I went from the old Atari console with the joystick to the Mac/PC and skipped the whole Nintendo revolution. So now with the disposable income to buy the current consoles I too find my skillz to be less than 1337.
