Which means it won't play WMA.  ;^)  It would have to convert everything
from a lossy format to another lossy format.

With the release of version 10 I've actually been more than happy with
Windows Media player.  Although the Shuffler looks great it's not worth it
to me to have to install another player/librarian and convert (many, many,
many) files.

In any case I personally use my PocketPC as a player - it works great and
I've got more than enough storage (at least for me) and I can read at the
same time I listen to music (or just veg out and watch a movie).

But my mother's been through several players.  I first she had a little 64
Meg solid state player but had trouble getting new music on to it.  Then I
got her a 10 Gig HD player, but having everything on it was too much for her
and she got confused.

Something like this: screenless, minimal controls - it could be perfect for
her.
