Depends on your setup. I'm careful enough about avoiding trojans and
the like, and my wife is clued-in enough to not open anything fishy
(phishy?). After I spent 6 hours uninfecting and rebuilding my
sister-in-law's laptop, my wife asked me if I would run the various
spyware/virus/malware detection apps on our Windows PCs to see if there
was anything on there.

The worst anything found were some HitBox tracking cookies and the
Googlebar.

I'm not insanely obsessed with security, but I've taken a few reasonable
measures to minimize my risk - Firefox/Thunderbird helps a lot, regular
visits to Windows Update, configuring my wireless and wired routers to
only allow a handful of ports for TCP/UDP traffic, not broadcasting my
SSID, etc.

I will point out that our primary computer is a Mac, so that helps, but
I like to think I'm not a drooling Apple fanatic enough to never presume
that the Mac is /never/ going to be vulnerable, and take the same
reasonable measures with it as well.
