ahem. At this point I think someone needs to assure the Men in Black that nobody here is advocating the overthrow of the United States government. I do think it was brilliant to make sure that the votes for impeachment would not be there though.
The United States is notorious for meddling in the affairs of other countries on behalf of its corporations. Look up banana republic and United Fruit sometime. Not that that makes it right... but if operations in Iraq were at least effective I'd be a lot less opposed. This probably sounds cold, but not really. If it were a matter of taking over the military targets and substituting a slightly more benevolent dictatorship with minimal civilian injury then we could debate the ethics of realpolitick in an isolated ivory tower sort of way. But the fact is that we are killing thousands in a manner that almost guarantees trouble for years to come. So hmm, I am not sure I agree about Iran and I can't help but wonder who else is on the little list, but this troubles me a lot less than the bombing of Fallujah.
