But publishing the "facts" was racist in that particular case. They manipulated 
the science to prove a point that the facts didn't support. The reason they did 
this was to prove that race was a significant differentiation in IQ.

It's not a "they could be right, you could be right, we'll never know."  It was 
purely racial.

Whether the science was right or wrong is not the point.  Assuming
you're right, and it wasn't, publishing the facts isn't racist. 
(although it might be - the author may be, who knows?  Or you may be
wrong and the science may be right.)
