I was torn as well - but after getting the movers I'll never go back. It can be pricey (Seven years ago it cost us $1000 to move all our stuff). But they were done in less than eight hours total, didn't break a thing and never once complained or goofed off. We did a lot of moving on one block of Beacon Hill (from apartment to apartment) and always did it ourselves with friends. But we ended up in a huge fight because one friend dropped and broke our TV and another showed up drunk. It just wasn't really worth it. If you can afford the movers it's some of the best money you'll ever spend.
