Actually, when I was living on a cattle farm, we regularly had pet cows
and steer, and we named them.
They would come and visit with us, we'd pet them, etc. Never sat on a
couch with them no, but on a hay bale.

It was not uncommon for kids to have cows as 4-H projects, show them
off, wini ribbons, and then when the time came, have them slaughtered to
fill the freezer, the hide processed to be used for various projects
whether they were coats, laces, cushion covers, or sold to upholstry
shops.
Even the unusable bits went to the dogs for chewies.

And in all cases, ALL ANIMALS WERE DOMESTICATED.

So I can see Deanna's point quite clearly.

One must "sometimes" look outside the box dear Tony.

Cheers,
Erika
