Something I forgot to add in. Running your own servers isn't always just install and forget, there are patches that must be applied to the OS and the applications. It doesn't really matter what OS you use and what apps your run, there will be service packs, security patches, and things like.
You will need to devote time to tasks like back ups, DNS clean up, mail clean up, and log processing. I usually do this daily, but I have a lot of servers I deal with, but it does need to be done. -----Original Message----- From: Nick McClure [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 6:18 PM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: Hosting Considerations Well, I've been doing it for some time now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:145829 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
