>From the article: *** According to a Sept. 2004 report in the North County Times (San Diego), Mattis fought once in Afghanistan, twice in Iraq, and recently received his third star.
The newspaper described Mattis as "a tough and outspoken leatherneck who was beloved by many of his troops for talking straight and leading from the battlefield." *** On the news this morning, they described his remarks as "insensitive". It really bothers me when people are imprecise with language. His remarks were apparently offensive. Certainly impolitic. But insensitive? We're worried about being insensitive to people we're at war with who subjugate and torture women as a matter of principle? -Kevin On Fri, 4 Feb 2005 10:43:52 -0500, Larry C.
