Bah - no wonder the brits think Americans are uneducated. :P
The food in the UK is actually quite good.
Your experience with poached eggs aside ... :)

Having been a spoiled Northeaster with NYC cuisine a hop away and good
delis and pizzerias, I was not expecting to be so pleased with British
food.
The pubs especially have great food and there's many a good restaurant
and take-a-away.
Food stores offer a variety of really good beef and cheeses and veggies.

Anyway - it may have been boiled beef 50 years ago - but times have
changed :)
You should have travelled around more :P

Cheers,
Erika

##| 1.) Buy the best beef roast you can find.
##| 2.) Boil it for about 2 days until it's a light shade of grey.
##| 3.) Serve with a 2002 Beaujolais Nouveau.
