My thought about your scheme is that the default color variations on the 
analogic pattern give the scheme too much warmth. I guess it depends on how 
wintry you want the scheme to be. 

To me, winter means the mono above for general daytime gloom- Boston this time 
of year. ;-) The dark pastel coresponds to winter nights in the wilderness- 
dark, subdued colors, nothing that implies growth or warmth. The light pastels 
are more like a bright sunny day in January in Scandanavia- snow on the ground, 
people outside, that kind of thing. I have no idea why I associate light winter 
pastels with Scandanavia, but I do.
