I've given up pointing out that fact. Those who are absolutely
convinced of the country being founded on  "Christian" principles
conveniently ignore it or typically weasel out of those uncomfortable
facts.  Jefferson, Adams and Madison, all used the deist concept of
the Blind Watchmaker to describe their ideas of the world and
religion.
