Here in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C., area that just is not possible, especially during rush hour. If you try to leave 3 seconds between vehicles the space quickly fills in with enough cars to return the gap to the 1 second or less that most drivers seem comfortable with. I think these people are watching way too much NASCAR on TV. None of them has a clue how much ground they will travel during the reaction time of just trying to get their foot to the brake pedal, let alone how long it will take them to come to a complete stop from the speed at which they happen to be traveling. We really should treat getting a regular driver's license more like we treat getting a license to drive a motorcycle. In fact, I'd like to see a mandatory requirement that all new drivers have to attend a two-day course at a driver's school like Bob Bondurant's. The $600 (or so) cost could either be paid for by the driver's insurance company or deducted from the cost of the insurance (because the lessons learned would pay for themselves very quickly). A pet peeve - during this morning's post-snow rush hour we had our usual complement of idiots flying down the interstates, way over the limit, trailing great clouds of snow behind them from the 3 - 5" layer they hadn't bothered to clear from their roof . . . you wonder if these people are 1)clueless, 2)just don't care, or 3)just plain arrogant . . . they ought to post a cop at each entrance ramp and you can't get on the interstate until you've cleaned off your car . . . :-) George ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Purchase Dreamweaver with Homesite Plus from House of Fusion, a Macromedia Authorized Affiliate and support the CF community. http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=54 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:148427 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
