You still have nothing to say about the cost of the war, just making it
more palatable.

We should have gone into Iraq in 1992 to complete the job after Saddam
violated UN resolutions and put down the Shiite uprising. We had the
moral obligation then. We were only a decade and some late fulfilling
our obligation.

As for the 6 percent, that just says that US troops performed 94% better
than expected. That is like saying you nearly doubled your profits for
the year over the expected.

Thanks - I'll take the win on the dollars :)

The UN and all of our 1990 allies backed ALL US initiatives under UN
resolution 1441 authorizing force should Saddam fail to disarm in
November 2002.

In January 2003 the UN recommended that before those "consequences"
take place the UN weapons inspectors be allowed to finish their job.
In late January 2003 the US said that was unnecessary since Iraq had
WMD and we had intelligence to prove it. The UN asked the US to share
that intelligence.

Sec. Powell made a presentation to the UN after which the majority of
the UN concluded that the US's "proof" was not strong enough to
justify invasion and should the US still want to invade before
inspections were over, it would need a second resolution authorizing
war.

The US decided it didn't need nor want UN sanction, gave warning, and
invaded Iraq.

In short, the US had full UN support and authority until we decided to
abondon the inspections process. Remember: The justification for war
was PROOF of WMD - nothing else. In the end the UN was proved right:
we had no justification for war.

The "they wouldn't have" argument is more full of holes that the
President's proof of WMD. If "they wouldn't have" then why did they
vote to authorize force should the weapons inspectors find WMD?

Isn't this like saying you went bankrupt 6 months later than expected?
