So, my home network used to consist of a "B" style network. (Sorry, I
can never remember the full technical names.) I had the router
upstairs. I could use it downstairs in the living room, but the
connection was a bit shakey. It worked most of the time, but just
wasn't "great." It was unable outside or anywhere else. I assumed it
was my walls.

So I switched to a normal router upstairs. I connected to a powerline
ethernet connection. This connected to my wireless router downstairs.
Since the wireless router was a LOT closer, the connection was
awesome. My speed was limited by the powerline networking (14 mbps),
but the reliability was perfect.

So... I'm really wanting the Airport Express so I can plug it into my
stereo. However, this won't help my PC upstairs unless I get a
wireless card for it. I'd also have to move my cable modem. I just
don't want to do that.

So... can I get a G wireless system for upstairs. Then set up the
Airport to be a bridge? To be honest, the G system upstairs may be
good enough by itself. I'd still want the Aiport though so I can
broadcast to the stereo. Has anyone used iTunes where 2 wireless
networks were "in play" and were you able to broadcast to the Airport
while using the other station for connectivity?

Is this even a viable idea?

Also - I'm considering getting Linksys with the proprietary speed
stuff. Their cards will still work w/ other systems, so that should be
fine I would think.

Thoughts?
